Specialty Class: Building a Show - Dreaming, Decisions, Directing!
(A Student Directed Summer Camp Frozen 2 Prerequisite)

Follow us into the unknown as we prepare for the student-directed-and-produced Summer production/camp of Frozen 2! We will be examining what directors of all kinds do for their productions in this class: artistic directors, music directors, producers, stage managers, choreographers, and more!

If you are interested, at the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to apply for the Student Artistic and Production Team for Frozen 2! However if you aren’t interested, this class is simply a great opportunity to practice the joys of building a show. 

**Please note, taking this class is a mandatory prerequisite to be on the production/artistic team for the Summer camp production. 

If you are selected to be a part of the student directing team for the Summer Frozen 2 Camp, please know there will be a standard registration fee for this training opportunity. The following key qualifiers are required to apply: 
  1. Must be at least 14+/a freshmen in High School by the beginning of Summer Session 2026
  2. Displays teaching, serving, and/or leadership gifts and maintains a positive attitude
  3. Must have been involved in CYT Santa Cruz for at least 1 year (and multiple sessions)
  4. Commits to upholding CYT values
  5. Commits to attending a prep meeting that is scheduled with their mentor and preparing any necessary materials for rehearsals
  6. Commits to attending all rehearsals and performances for Summer Camp - June 15-19th

Layne Ahlstrom

Layne, a singer, actress and director, is passionate about the healing and expression that comes through performance art. Layne performed and produced theater productions throughout high school and temporarily as a theater minor at Seattle University. Layne views theater as a great opportunity for authentic empathy. Through her art, she aims to foster a healthy, full, expressive, loving understanding of each other and ones self. She loves spending time with her goofy family, her groovy kitty "Disco" & living/working in San Francisco with her friends! She also ALWAYS love to bust a move.
