2026-2027 Season

Introducing this season structure…

CYT Santa Cruz is offering MULTIPLE show tracks each session, with unique schedules, opportunities and shows. CYT’s goal is to offer quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together and we are excited to accomplish this with double the fun this year! Our theme this year is all about God’s Love for us and what it looks like to  RECEIVE 🀲 REFLECT 🌏REPEAT ❀️ inspired by 1 John 4:11-12.

In the Fall session our shows will explore the Christmas spirit and what happens when we allow ourselves to RECEIVE 🀲 Love.

In Spring our shows will explore chosen family and what happens when we REFLECT 🌏 Love.

In Summer our Shows will explore fractured fairy tales and what happens when we DON’T REPEAT πŸ’” the cycle of Love.

Since Spotlight shows are a more educationally focused experience, during the school year they are a partnership between classes and shows with rehearsals on Monday evenings (in lieu of class), Saturday afternoons and select small calls on Saturday mornings. Rehearsals will be Saturday afternoons. Students are required to take a CYT class in order to participate in CYT Lite shows but you can choose whichever class best suits your student from our Monday and Wednesday class offerings as available. These spots are also first come first serve- so sign up to secure your spot before we hit the cast size limit!

Project Plays

Project Plays are a performance class or workshop that offers advanced acting training opportunities that build student confidence, technique and excitement. This season’s Project Plays are staged readings- rehearsed read-throughs of the scripts, performed in front of a seated audience. Actors are not required to be off book for a staged reading, and some (or all) of the stage directions will be read aloud. Visual elements such as props, sets and costumes will be limited. Staged Readings are now offered during our CYT classes (so auditions and rehearsals will be during class) and the performance will be at the conclusion of classes.

RECEIVE 🀲 REFLECT 🌏 REPEAT ❀️

At CYT Santa Cruz, theater is about more than performances. It's about building a community where young people are known, encouraged, and challenged to grow in character and creativity. As we gather this season, we reflect on the gift of God's love and the invitation we have engage in that love through storytelling, teamwork, and service.

This season we are excited to focus on:

-How much God loves us and how understanding that gift can inspire us to love others.

-Knowing love = knowing God! As Les Miserables describes it..."To love another person is to see the face of God!"

-When we don’t choose to show love to others it can easily lead to separation, isolation and destruction of relationships and communities.

We are excited to explore how to  RECEIVE 🀲 REFLECT 🌏 REPEAT ❀️ love  together we can this year at CYT Santa Cruz!
